I have been in the insurance industry for 36 years, starting out in Corporate and Commercial Insurance before specialising in sport and, for the last 25 years, motorsport specifically.
I now specialise in providing advice and expertise to national governing bodies, associations, circuits and many other companies operating within the motorsport world.
I have worked with some of the largest governing bodies of motorsport in the UK across some of the most complex motorsport disciplines, providing risk management advice, claims analysis, incident databases and comprehensive programmes of insurance to protect them, their officials, participants, sponsors and landowners. Motorsport in this country would not take place without the consent of landowners and the dedicated service provided by all volunteer officials who need to be fully protected in the event of an incident.
I have acted for teams, motorsport specialist motor traders and many companies who operate on the edge of the sport. I have placed cover for testing facilities, practice tracks, track day companies, static displays, demonstrations and World Record attempts. These have largely been high limit liability programmes. However, I have also placed road cover for events for many different types of vehicles and run Personal Accident schemes for participants at all levels of the sport, which have included repatriation covers for participants fatally injured while competing abroad.
In addition to Liability and Personal Accident programmes I also specialise in the unusual. I have placed covers for a variety of driving programmes for young drivers and established an insurance programme for specialist driving instructors involved in motorsport – both on the road and track.
